Gillespie Addition to the XTC Herd

We are beyond thrilled to announce the addition of the Gillespie cows to our program. We have always appreciated Donnie’s cows and feel that they will make an excellent addition to our program.

It is always sad to see a fellow breeder hang up his hat in the industry, but we feel privileged to carry on the Gillespie tradition of easy doing, ranch ready cattle.

It is going to be an interesting winter, calving from February to May! We can’t wait to see the new genetics hit the ground!

2015 marks 50 years in Herefords for the Templetons

In 1964 George and Joyce Templeton purchased their first purebred Herefords from Fraser Bros. in Hussar and Hans Ulrich in Claresholm. Good friends with Leo and Irvy Doenz, Herefords seemed to be the best fit for this young couple. With Joyce’s ranch roots and George’s love of numbers, they jumped in with both feet. Females came later from Powleslands, Gilmours and Corbiells.

XTC STANDARD WETMORE 4B is one of the top influential horned sires in the Canadian Hereford breed. 4B went on to sire the voltage line.

Doran and Byron returned to the farm after formal education and divided duties between farming and purebred and commercial cattle. Carolyn joined XTC in the 80’s after meeting Byron showing cattle in Lethbridge. Carolyn came from a long tradition of purebreds and understood what it took to be successful in the registered business.

They have been very fortunate in their sale partners. McKenzie Herefords in the 80’s and Pahl Livestock and the Amigo sale for the past 16 years, as well as the Medicine Hat Bull Sale.

The XTC prefix continues in Saskatchewan with Jocelyn and her husband Travis Wasko as partners with Byron and Carolyn. The XTC family is thrilled to be expanding the herd, raising both horned and polled cattle and continuing on from their first registration in 1965.
